Another early morning fire in Haldimand County has completely destroyed a large barn complex north of Jarvis.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at “Stam, D and H Farms” before 4:30 a.m. and quickly called in support from neighbouring stations including Hagersville and Port Dover to help shuttle water to the rural location on Highway 6 just south of Walpole Concession 9.

The farm was home to nearly 300 sheep as well as some cattle and pigs. All livestock was killed in the blaze. Damage is estimated at over $2 million dollars.

The Ontario Fire Marshal was notified of the blaze but won’t investigate as local investigators are satisfied the cause was likely electrical.

A swine operation at 3236 Hwy 6 has been there for several decades before recently switching to sheep.

It’s the second major early morning fire in Haldimand in less than a month. On September 24th firefighters battled a $3 million fire that destroyed the Slack Plaza in Caledonia.
