The death toll from Friday’s Humboldt Broncos bus crash near Tisdale, Saskatchewan has risen to 16.
24-year-old Dayna Brons died of her injuries Wednesday afternoon.
She was the athletic therapist for the Broncos.
“Dayna’s family would like to thank the first responders, emergency staff, and all those who have cared for Dayna over these last few days for their support,” said a statement from the family.
“They would like to thank everyone across Saskatchewan and Canada for their love and prayers during this very difficult time.”
Brons had undergone two surgeries and had been in an induced coma when she died.
Meanwhile, the first of the crash victims will be laid to rest Thursday.
Tyler Bieber worked for a Humboldt radio station and often travelled with the team as its play-by-play voice.
The 29-year-old was with the team heading to a playoff game in Nipawin on Apr. 6 when the team bus collided with a semi-trailer.
Of the 29 people on the bus, 16 were killed and 13 were injured.
Two other funerals are scheduled for Friday.
