40th anniversary of the Blizzard of ’77

This Saturday, January 28 will be the 40th anniversary of what is known as the blizzard of ’77. Communities like Welland and Port Colborne that border Lake Erie were buried in snow and suffered brutally cold temperatures.

Many terrible storms have hit Ontario in the four decades since that disaster, but for those who lived through the blizzard of 77, no other storm has been as fierce.
