U.N. calls on Israeli government to allow humanitarian corridor, as Gaza runs out of food, fuel

First Published:

Gaza’s only power plant has run out of fuel, as Israel forms an emergency unity government and steps up its strikes in the strip, as more brutal details about the Hamas assault on Saturday are coming to light.

The UN Secretary General is calling on the Israeli government to allow essential supplies of food, fuel and water to reach the civilian population of Gaza.

The Israeli military has cut off supplies to the enclave as hundreds of thousands of troops are gathering near the Gazan border, sparking concerns an all-out ground assault may be coming.

The death toll in Israel from the Hamas terrorist attacks have now hit 1,200, while more than 1,100 people have been killed by Israeli air strikes in the strip.

For more information on the war, we spoke with Aurel Braun – a professor of international relations and political science at the University of Toronto.
