OPP charge 19-year-old after backpacks stolen in Norfolk County

A 19-year-old is facing a criminal charge after police say he stole several backpacks from a community in Norfolk County.

Police say they were investigating a theft on Lakeshore Road in South Walsingham on Monday.

During the course of their investigation, they learned that several backpacks had been stolen from a premises in the area.

Inside of them, wallets with cash, bank cards and even passports among the various items.

Officers say they were able to locate a man nearby who they found to have a stolen bank card in his possession.

He’s now facing one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Nineteen-year-old Jonathan Banman of Tilbury will have his day in a Simcoe courthouse on June 4, 2024.
