Niagara Falls man arrested for weapons trafficking

First Published:

A Niagara Falls man faces charges after police say he tried to sell an illegal weapon to an undercover officer.

Niagara Regional Police began investigating earlier this month, when they found what they call an “electrical stun device” disguised as an ordinary flashlight for sale on Kijiji.

Police say the weapon was advertised as delivering 9.2 million volts.

Officers met the seller and purchased the prohibited weapon, then arrested the man on Sunday, police said.

Shawn Gillespie, 38, faces charges of weapons trafficking and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
