Mississauga crews continue to clear flooding due to watermain break

First Published:

Peel Regional Police say a stretch of Lakeshore Rd. in Mississauga is expected to remain closed until Friday evening after a watermain break caused major flooding.

On Thursday evening, officers tweeted a video showing multiple vehicles trapped in the flood water near Lorne Park and Mississauga roads.

The area was blocked off until about midnight when police provided an update saying the road is now closed between Lorne Park Rd. and Ibar Way.

Officers say this portion of roadway should remain closed until approximately 5 p.m. on Friday.

There have been no injuries reported.

Crews from the Region of Peel are still at the scene fixing the issue. Water has been shut off in the area.

Police said early Friday morning that sinkholes are forming at the scene.
