The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has launched a new rebate program to put life-saving defibrillators on Ontario construction sites.
Under the program, businesses can receive up to $2,500 when they purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for qualifying projects.
The WSIB says having AEDs on-site allows crews to respond quickly to cardiac emergencies.
AEDs are electronic devices that can restore a normal rhythm to a person’s heart if they experience cardiac arrest. When used with CPR, the WSIB says it can increase chances for survival by more than 50 per cent.

The program applies to construction projects lasting more than three months with at least 20 workers, and covers AEDs purchased between July 2025 and June 2027.
Labor Minister David Piccini says it’s a practical step to keep construction workers safe with immediate access to life-saving equipment.
This follows the Ontario government’s decision to mandate AEDs at construction sites of more than 20 workers.
