Woman, 82, killed in single-vehicle crash in New Tecumseth

Ontario Provinical Police (OPP) says an elderly woman has died following a single-vehicle crash in New Tecumseth.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday on County Rd. 1.

Police say the 82-year-old victim was a passenger in a vehicle that lost control before a sharp curve in the road. The car went into a ditch and rolled before landing on its roof.

The 60-year-old driver of the car suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for several hours while OPP officers photographed and collected evidence at the scene. It reopened around 4 a.m. Sunday.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The woman’s name is not being released until next of kin has been notified.
