Protests rocked the Los Angeles area over the weekend, responding to President Donald Trump’s intensified immigration crackdown.

Clashes between demonstrators and police led to dozens of arrests, and prompted the President to deploy the National Guard, without the state’s request or consent, something that hasn’t been done in decades.

California’s governor and the mayor of LA have both spoken out about the at times violent escalation, going so far as to say the state will sue the Trump administration over the deployment.
