Trudeau announces $45M federal investment in Hamilton housing projects

During a visit to Hamilton Monday, Justin Trudeau announced a $45-million investment by the federal government into four housing projects in the city.
Trudeau says that the investment will go towards building and repairing 214 rental units and will be supplemented by an additional $19.1 million investment by the City.
According to the federal government, some of the housing built as a result of this investment will support seniors, women and children fleeing domestic violence, those experiencing mental health and addiction issues and Indigenous people.

The four projects supported through this announcement are located at 90 Carling St., 104-106 Bay St., 23 Clapham Rd. and 219 East Ave. North.
Speaking on the announcement, Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath says, “It’s so important to me that people of all ages and income levels can afford to call Hamilton home. This joint investment by the City of Hamilton and the Government of Canada will change the lives of hundreds of people.”
