Tight race in Newfoundland and Labrador riding triggers recount

A judicial recount is set for Monday for a Newfoundland and Labrador riding as the tally remains too close to call.

In the Newfoundland riding of Terra Nova-The Peninsulas, there’s a 12 vote difference between the Liberal and Conservative candidates.

The recount comes after a riding in Quebec flipped from the Bloc Quebecois to the Liberals by a margin of just one vote.

That gave the Liberals 170 seats in the house of commons – two short of a majority government.

A recount is expected Tuesday in Milton East-Halton Hills South, where Liberal candidate Kristina Tesser Derksen is ahead of Conservative Parm Gill by 29 votes.

In the Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore riding, a recount was granted after the Liberal incumbent argued several ballots were wrongly rejected after the validation process showed he lost to his Conservative challenger by 77 votes.
