Teen dies in early morning collision with snowplow in St. Catharines

Niagara police are investigating an early morning collision in St. Catharines in which a local teen died when the compact car the young person was driving hit a snowplow.
The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. Monday morning on Glenridge Avenue, in the area between Lockhart Drive and John Macdonell Street.
Niagara police, fire and EMS arrived on-scene to assist.
Initial investigations found that the 19-year-old was driving a red Pontiac Vibe north on Glenridge Avenue when the vehicle lost control, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the snowplow travelling south on Glenridge Avenue.
The young person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Glenridge Avenue was closed between Lockhart Drive and John Macdonell Street for a few hours due to the crash and detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit and forensics have taken over the investigation.
