Six Nations police lay attempted murder charges after weekend shooting

Six Nations police say they’ve arrested and charged one person in connection with a shooting in Ohsweken over the weekend.

On Sunday around 8:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunshots on Fourth Line Road. Their investigation revealed that shots had been fired at a home, but no injuries were reported.

As a result of their investigation, police have arrested 31-year-old Wesley Burning. He faces the following charges:

  • Attempted murder
  • Discharging firearm with intent
  • Firearm: pointing
  • Firearm: unauthorized possession
  • Firearm: knowledge of unauthorized possession
  • Breach probation x 3

Burning is being held in custody pending a formal bail hearing. Police say additional charges are also pending.
