Earlier Saturday afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police issued a shelter-in-place order in Simcoe amid an active incident involving “potentially armed individuals,” said a statement.
Police said officers were called to the area of Kent and Union streets shortly before 1 p.m. after a report of a possible shot fired. As a result, Colborne Street North, Union Street, Young Street and Kent Street were closed.
At 8:20 p.m., the order was lifted.
The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit along with Emergency Response Team members, OPP Canine Services and Crisis Negotiators assisted with the investigation, which is still ongoing. There were no reports of any injuries.
