CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram spoke with Akaash Maharaj, a senior fellow with the Munk School of Global Affairs, following Canada’s plan to recognize Palestine as a state.

Ingram asked Maharaj if Canada’s promise of recognition is a reward for Hamas, as Israel and the U.S. have been saying since the announcement Wednesday.

Maharaj then spoke about if the declaration will have an impact on the war in Gaza and the horrific humanitarian situation that is unfolding.

The two then discussed the major shift in Canadian foreign policy, and how it may affect Canadian relations with other countries.
