KITCHENER — Police in Kitchener, Ont., continue to search for a 25-year-old who was reported missing after a house fire more than a month ago.

Investigators say they suspect foul play in the disappearance of Eli Wood, who lived in the rear unit of the house.

They say the fire, which broke out the morning of Oct. 19 and caused significant damage, is being investigated as arson.

Waterloo regional police say they can only share limited information in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, and ask that the public not rely on “unverified information circulating on social media.”

Wood’s family has issued a statement echoing the sentiment, saying that “inaccurate information and speculation can cause confusion and stress” for them on top of potentially interfering with the investigation.

The family says it appreciates the community support in what has been a difficult time.
