Portions of Highway 407 closed due to grass fires

The Ministry of Transportation has shut down portions of Highway 407 in Halton due to grass fires.
Halton police say the fires are happening in the area of Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line.
As a result, all lanes on the 407 going eastbound at Dundas Street in Burlington and all lanes on the 407 going westbound at Bronte Road in Oakville are closed.
Halton police posted on X to inform the public of the ongoing fires.
Police and Burlington Fire are currently responding to multiple grass fires along the railway tracks in the area of Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line. Some road closures are anticipated to allow Burlington Fire access. No injuries reported to police.

Authorities also say that grass fires have been reported along the railway tracks in the area of Tremaine road and No. 2 Side Road.
Officials are encouraging the public to avoid these areas while fire crews are on scene.
