Police officer seriously injured after crash with tractor-trailer on Hwy. 403 near Oakville

A police officer is in hospital with serious injuries after their motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 403 near Oakville.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 403 near Dundas Street West.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says paramedics rushed the officer to a trauma centre following the crash. He did not specify what police service the officer works for.

Westbound Highway 403 is currently closed at Dundas Street West as police investigate.

There is no word yet on the cause of the collision.
