The family of a Burlington man will head into the long weekend knowing their son’s okay. It was an emotional day for the Christopher Komac’s family, many of whom were in tears this morning not knowing were he is or what might have happened but that fear soon turned to relief and gratitude.

Over 300 people showed up Friday morning at Roly Bird Park to help search for Komac. According to police Komac had left his home in the area of Guelph line and Prospect street Wednesday evening for a jog at around 5:30 but when he never returned his family grew concerned. His cell phone was found at the park the next day.

Less then two hours into the search the family received the happy news. “This morning we located Christopher. He’s alive and well.”

Burlington police say Komac was discovered wandering around a ravine on Stirbridge drive by a number of volunteers and police who were searching the area. The ravine is about two and a half kilometers from where his cellphone was discovered. Police say he was conscious and speaking when they found him and that he was taken to Joseph Brant hospital as a precautionary measure.

At the Komac family’s request police say they won’t be providing anymore information.
