Poilievre reinforces negative RCMP comments, calls leadership ‘despicable’

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, is doubling down on negative comments he made about the RCMP in a Youtube interview.

He called the Mounties’ leadership “despicable,” and accused it of covering up for former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but he denied saying the former PM should be in jail.

In the interview Poilievre said “many of the scandals of the Trudeau era should have involved jail time” but when asked about those comments Thursday, he instead directed his criticism towards the former RCMP commissioner without mentioning Trudeau at all.

Despite support from within his party, the Liberals, Greens, and NDP have all called on the Conservative leader to apologize for his controversial comments about the RCMP.
