Patrick Brown seeking re-election as mayor of Brampton

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown announced he is seeking re-election in that city.
Brown filed his official paperwork at Brampton city hall on Monday morning. It comes after he was disqualified from the leadership race for the Conservative Party of Canada.
The disqualification was over an allegation that he breached federal financing laws. Brown is seeking an appeal, denying any wrongdoing.
Brown had previously said he would consider running for mayor of Brampton again if it seemed like he couldn’t win the federal Conservative leadership.
Brown has been mayor of Brampton since 2018. He was a former leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative party, but resigned after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced dating back to his time as a federal MP. He has denied the allegations.
He joins Jermaine Chambers, Cody Vatcher and Vidya Sagar Gautam in the mayoral race.
Candidates have until August 19 to register for the Brampton municipal election.
