OPP asks residents to identify recovered items stolen from Norfolk County gravesites

Ontario Provincial Police are asking local communities to help identify recovered items that were stolen from gravesites in Norfolk County.
Officers say they were able to recover a number of items as part of an investigation into thefts from gravesites in the region.
OPP posted a video at around 12:32 p.m. on X, asking if anyone living in the region who believes a loved one’s gravesite was targeted to contact police.
Stealing from our local cemeteries has left a lasting impact on our community, and what you see here reflects exactly that.

“What these items represent are dozens of desecrated gravesites,” said Const. Andrew Gamble with the Norfolk County OPP. “The impact of this crime is so far-reaching in our community.”
Earlier this month, Norfolk County OPP reported that a bronze headstone was stolen from a cemetery in Port Rowan.
Police had also reported a bronze headstone was taken from the Sacred Heart Rowan Catholic Cemetery in Langton.
Anyone that wishes to get in contact with police can email 12627@opp.ca with their full contact information, the name of the cemetery where an incident occurred, and a brief description of the theft or damages.
