Ontario Liberals release fully-costed platform, would draw from contingency funds to pay for pledges

Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca released his party’s fully-costed plan today.
The party said it would improve public education, clear the surgery backlog, revolutionize elder care, introduce $1 transit fares, lower the cost of food and make buying and renting a home more affordable.
Today, I’m joining our new @OntLiberal team to share our fully-costed platform, A Place to Grow. At its core, our plan is about tackling Ontario’s affordability crisis and helping families get ahead.

The party says the platform would draw money from contingency funds that the auditor general has described as “overly cautious and higher than usual.”
The Liberals also say they expect to balance the budget by 2025-2026 if elected.
The party also released its housing plan today, saying it would bring back rent control and build 1.5 million new homes.
