Ontario gov’t announces Oct. 27 opening of Confederation GO Station in Hamilton

The Ontario government has completed construction of the new Confederation GO Station in Hamilton and has set an opening day for the end of October.
Service at Confederation GO Station will begin Oct. 27 with all existing trains to and from Niagara Falls stopping at the station.
It features a fully accessible platform with canopies, bicycle racks, a pick-up/drop-off area and 148 parking spots.
The station is part of GO Transit’s Niagara Extension project, expanding GO train service to Hamilton and the Niagara Region. According to Metrolinx, it will be the first new GO station to open in four years.
“Hamilton is on the move,” said Andrea Horwath, Mayor of Hamilton.
“For Hamiltonians, it means shorter commutes, affordable and sustainable travel, and better access to work, school and healthcare. For visitors, it means easier access to discover everything that makes Hamilton such a vibrant community,” said Mayor Horwath.
The Confederation GO Station is located near Queen Elizabeth Way and Centennial Parkway North and has been serving GO bus route 12 since 2019 and route 11 since 2021.
Enhanced services on the GO network on the Lakeshore East, Lakeshore West, Barrie and Stouffville lines will also start on Oct. 27.
