Nurse charged after illegal cosmetic procedure kills woman

A 23-year-old woman was taken to hospital on Apr. 18, 2017 after receiving illegal cosmetic treatment in a private residence, and later died from medical complications.

Police have charged 40-year-old Anna Yakubovsky-Rositsaa in Vaughan Ont. who they believe performed the procedure.

Yakubovsky-Rositsaa was formally employed as a nurse and had been allegedly operating an unregulated medical office in her home for several years.

Police say the nurse allegedly offered to perform cosmetic work at a discounted rate, then injected patients with unregulated substances.

She is being charged with criminal negligence causing death, failing to provide the necessities of life to a person under her charge and  aggravated assault(x4).
