Nominations open for City of Hamilton Ward 8 Councillor by-election

Nominations are now open for the City of Hamilton Ward 8 by-election for City Councillor.
Interested individuals must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old and reside in — or be the owner or tenant of — land in Hamilton or the spouse of such owner or tenant.
They must also not be prohibited from voting and not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
Eligible candidates interested in filing their nomination for the vacant position can book an appointment with the elections department at 905-546-4408 or elections@hamilton.ca. Nominations will be accepted until Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. and a full list of candidates will be posted online on Aug. 12.
Voting is set for Sept. 22 with advance polls on Sept. 20 and 21. How and where to vote will come from the City of Hamilton at a later date.
The first meeting for the newly elected member of Council will be held on Oct. 8 of this year and the term of office will end on Nov. 14, 2026.
