Niagara Street in Welland reopens after police investigate late-night crash

Niagara police have reopened a stretch of Niagara Street in Welland after a serious crash closed the road for several hours Monday morning.

Officers have not confirmed details but posted to Facebook at around 12:15 a.m. Monday to confirm reports of a crash.

Police reopened the road at around 6:00 a.m. Monday morning after having it closed for several hours between Thorold and Abbey roads.

A person at the scene tells CHCH News that first responders were called to the road just after 11:00 p.m. Sunday night.

A freelancer tells CHCH News that a pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but this has not been confirmed with police or first responders.
