Niagara police seek suspect in utility trailer theft and resale investigation

Niagara police are looking for a suspect involved with the theft and resale of utility trailers from a business in Welland.
Officers launched an investigation in June after two utility trailers were stolen from a business in Welland.
They say one of the stolen trailers was recovered in St. Catharines, but a second trailer is still outstanding.
They describe the trailer as a 2022 Norstar dump trailer, black in colour and with “Plaza Tenders” decals on both sides.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 35-year-old Jeremy Boyer, for criminal offences including: theft over $5,000, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000 and for operation of a conveyance while prohibited – operating a vehicle, aircraft, vessel, or railway equipment while prohibited.
Boyer is also wanted by Niagara police on a separate warrant for a different criminal matter.
Investigators believe Boyer is selling stolen utility trailers through Facebook Marketplace under the alias “Jeremy Troy.”
They say he is selling the trailers at prices significantly below market value.
Detectives say any buyers should verify that the seller has valid registration and proof of ownership before completing any transaction.
Anyone with information or has recently purchased a trailer from Boyer is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Rick WEASNER at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009215.
Members of the public who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
