Niagara police charge woman accused of defrauding Filipino immigrants

Niagara police are urging new Canadians to be cautious after a woman was arrested Tuesday over suspected fraud targeting the Filipino community.
Police say 41-year-old Aiza Andres of Niagara Falls, who is of Philippine decent, would gain the trust of Filipino immigrants and community members.
Investigators say she would charge a fee to assist them with immigration documents, work permits and education documents. In return, she allegedly forged documents.

Andres faces two counts of fraud under $5,000, one count of fraud over $5,000 and three counts of uttering forged documents.
The Central Fraud Unit believes there may be more victims within the Niagara region.
Detectives are asking anyone who believes they are a victim of fraud or who may have any information about Andres to contact them at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009457.
