Niagara police charge 3 people after weekend of stunt driving incidents

Niagara police arrested 3 people after instances of stunt driving in the Niagara region over the weekend saw vehicles driving significantly over speed limits.

Officers arrested a 62-year-old man from Niagara Falls after a vehicle was seen driving 93 km/h in a 50 km/h zone at around 2:30 p.m. Friday on Lyons Creek Road in Niagara Falls.

That driver had their license suspended for a period of 30 days, and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.

The next day at around 9:20 p.m., officers conducted a speed enforcement on Regional Road 20 in Thorold, where they stopped a driver who was going 102 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.

Police charged a 46-year-old woman from Pelham with driving a vehicle while performing a stunt and speeding. Her license was suspended for a period of 30 days and her vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

On Sunday at around 8:30 p.m., an officer conducting speed enforcement on Lyons Creek Road in the City of Niagara Falls stopped a vehicle that was going 99 km/h in a posted 50 km/h area.

The 31-year-old man from Welland who was driving that vehicle was charged with several offences including speeding, failing to surrender their license, and for driving while under suspension.

That man also had his driver’s license suspended and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
