Matthews promises more transparency

Deputy premier of Ontario Deb Matthews announced the government will be reintroducing a bill that will make government spending more transparent.
Matthews says one of the first steps will be appointing a patient ombudsman to focus on quality improvement in the health care system.
“I think it’s a really big step forward. I think that having someone to review decisions of hospitals, long-term homes and community care … This is opening up patient focus and improvement in health care. I’m really excited about having the patient voice heard,” said Matthews.
Matthews says openness and transparency are crucial so that government services are efficient and taxpayers’ dollars are spent wisely. The Liberals will introduce their budget next week.
