Niagara regional police are investigating after the Underwater Search and Rescue Unit discovered a body in Lake Ontario.

Police were called shortly after 9:30 a.m., Friday, to an area off the Waterfront Trail in Spring Gardens Park located on the shores of Lake Ontario between Geneva Street and Vine Street in St. Catharines.

The body of a man was found however no other details of the person have been released.

In a press release, police said they are investigating the circumstances of the man’s death.
