A man has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a stabbing in central Hamilton.
Hamilton police were called around 5 p.m. to a home on Inchbury Street near York Boulevard, where the 41-year-old man was found suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Officers say the man was transported to hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
A large portion of the street was taped off with several cruisers and a forensics van on site. The road has since reopened.
The police have not yet identified a suspect.
Residents in the area told CHCH News the neighbourhood is very quiet.
The woman who made the 911 call says she heard a man yelling for help before she made the call.
“The response time was quite fast with first responders arriving to the scene while she was providing a statement to a dispatcher over the phone,” she said.
“Sixty-eight years I’ve been in this house and we haven’t seen anything like this before on this street, with so many police officers showing up,” said neighbour Bill Smith.
It’s not yet clear whether this was a targeted incident but police say there is no risk to public safety as the investigation continues.
Investigators are asking residents in the surrounding area to review any CCTV, doorbell, or dash camera footage they may have for suspicious activity between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 14.
