Police are searching for a suspect after one man was injured in a Friday evening shooting, marking the first incident of gun violence in Hamilton in 2026.
At approximately 7:13 p.m., officers responded to a business in the area of East 28th Street and Fennell Avenue East for a report of a shooting.
Authorities say a man sustained injuries and was taken to hospital in serious condition.
Investigators believe the suspect fled the area on foot, travelling northbound on East 27th Street from Fennel Avenue East. They add that no suspect description is currently available.
Detectives are asking residents, business owners and anyone who may have been travelling through the area between East 27th Street and Upper Sherman Avenue, and Fennell Avenue East to Queensdale Avenue East, to review any surveillance or dash camera footage captured between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 31 for any suspicious activity.
