A 21-year-old man who had allegedly intentionally hit a man with a vehicle early Sunday morning in Fort Erie, turned himself in to Niagara police Monday.

At around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police arrived at the scene near Netherby and Winger Roads.

They say a fight had happened earlier at a nearby house party, which led to two men leaving the home. One left in a grey Volkswagen Jetta, and another left in an ATV.

Police say that shortly after both men left the house, the driver of the Volkswagen is believed to have intentionally struck the ATV with his car. He then ran away from the area on foot.

A 32-year-old man from Thorold, who was on the ATV, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers say 21-year-old Baylee Lemoine of Niagara Falls had turned himself to police, and have charged him with failing to stop at the scene of an accident that caused bodily harm.

Lemoine remains in custody pending a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Monday.

Detectives say they are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 905-688-4111, dial option 3, extension 1009538.
