Significant changes are coming to Brantford transit starting Aug. 31.

The City of Brantford announced the changes saying this comes with the goal of creating a more direct, faster and reliable service.

Changes include two new main routes; Route A will provide two-way service between West Brant and Lynden Park Mall and Route 20 which will travel both ways between West Brant and the Northwest Industrial Area.

Improved connections to the Brantford General Hospital and the Northwest Industrial Area will also be added to eliminate the need to transfer at the Transit Terminal.

The Transit Terminal will no longer be the start and end of all routes.

Additionally, most routes will now run into the evening, eliminating the need for evening exclusive routes.

The city is hosting a public open house on Aug. 13 in the Charlie Ward Room and City Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

To help passengers prepare for these changes, updated route maps and descriptions are available online.
