Hamilton woman arrested after series of hate-motivated assaults

Hamilton police have arrested a woman from Hamilton after a series of hate-motivated assaults this week which took place over two days.

Officers say a woman assaulted multiple people between Monday and Tuesday, and during the attacks she was reported saying anti-Black hate speech.

The department has not disclosed where the attacks occurred.

Detectives say one of the people attacked sought medical attention for minor injuries.

Police say the ages of the victims in the attacks range from 14-years-old to 24-years-old.

45-year-old Melissa Deman was arrested and held for a bail hearing, where she will go before the courts for four counts of assault.
