Hamilton police looking for man involved in trail assault

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man involved in an assault that happened Thursday along the Pipeline Trail.

Shortly after 10 a.m., officers responded to reports of an assault on the trail between Crosthwaite and Fairfield avenues.

Investigators learned the female victim was approached by the man before he asked for change around 8 a.m.

The woman declined. The man then assaulted her.

A witness intervened, and the man fled westbound toward Crosthwaite Avenue.

Authorities described the man as white, five-foot-nine or five-foot-ten, thin build with visible sores on his face. They add that the man was wearing black pants and a black hoodie.

Officers are looking to speak to the witness who intervened. They are also asking residents to check home surveillance systems and to contract police if they have any relevant footage.
