Hamilton police extends search for missing woman Shalini Singh beyond Friday

Hamilton police say the landfill search for missing woman Shalini Singh will be extended beyond Friday and into next week.
Officers are combing through Glanbrook Landfill at 1500 Haldibrook Rd. for any sign of the missing 40-year-old who was last seen in early December.
The initial search for the missing woman began Feb. 25, which has been extended multiple times since then.
Const. Adam Kimber with Hamilton Police Services told CHCH News that the search will extend into May 23rd – the previous deadline – and into next week.
“The landfill search will continue into next week,” said Kimber.
Kimber said he did not have a new end date for the extension yet, but that he will let CHCH News know as soon as the information is available.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that Singh was killed in her apartment and removed from the building through its garbage disposal system.
Surveillance video was used to establish Singh’s movements in the days prior to her going missing. According to Hamilton police, she was not seen leaving her building after Dec. 4, and was reported missing six days later.
Forensics teams, officers and police cadets have been looking for Singh in a large area in the landfill identified by a GPS tracker on a garbage truck.
Community members can expect to see a heavy police presence as the investigation continues, but Hamilton police say traffic in the area will not be affected.
