Hamilton police charge two long-term care home workers with fraud

Police have arrested and charged two men employed at a long-term care home in Hamilton with fraud.
Forty-four-year-old Romeo Grospe from Hamilton was employed as a personal support worker at a long-term care home on Hamilton Mountain. Between January and October of 2024 he deposited multiple cheques from two residents of the home into his personal bank account.
Thirty-two-year-old Jerick David from Guelph was employed as a registered nurse at the same home as Grospe. In February of 2025 he deposited a cheque from a resident into his own bank account.
The College of Nurses of Ontario have been informed of the changes against David.
Officers say that after a lengthy investigation and reports from the long-term care home and families of the victims, the two men were arrested on June 24 and June 25.
Grospe has been charged with the following:
- Fraud over $5,000
- Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Fraud under $5,000
- Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5,000
David was charged with fraud under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Authorities say both Grospe and David were not employed at the long-term care home at the time of their arrests.
