Hamilton police say they’ve charged a 17-year-old boy after a street racing incident on Upper Gage Avenue resulted in a multiple-vehicle collision.

Officers say at around 9 p.m. Sunday, a Mercedes SUV was seen racing another light-coloured vehicle southbound on the road near Macassa Avenue.

The Mercedes collided with a Toyota RAV4 who was attempting to make a turn and pushed it into a Chevrolet Volt, according to police.

The other vehicle that was seen racing left before police arrived.

Authorities say there were no major injuries but the cars were severely damaged.
