Hamilton police arrest man peering outside student residence

Hamilton police have arrested a 53-year-old man after he was allegedly peering outside of a student residence late last night.  

On the night of Nov. 3, police say they responded to a home in the area of Bond Street South following reports of a suspicious man in the backyard of the property. 

A female resident advised police that the man had disabled the backyard light and fled upon being discovered.

Detectives say they found the suspect in the yard of a nearby residence. 

They say the suspect initially provided police with a false name and was taken into custody.

Officers have identified the suspect as George Braid of no fixed address and say he has a history of offences of this nature. 

He faces multiple charges including three counts of criminal harassment and charges related to prowling near a dwelling. 

Braid has been held for a bail hearing.
