Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath said Thursday that she will be on the ballot for re-election in next year’s municipal election.
The City of Hamilton held an audit, finance, and administration committee meeting in the morning, where members discussed voting changes to the city’s municipal election scheduled for October 2026.

“I think that we have, in a really short time, been able to move a lot of the major goal posts in our city, including things like the investment of almost $300 million just across the way,” referring to the newly renamed TD Coliseum, formerly the FirstOntario Centre.
“The airport deal, which now has Porter [Airlines] there providing services that continue to grow, and there’s going to be more growth at that airport,” Horwath said, referring to the addition of four routes via Porter Airlines to John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.
Horwath also took time to address the ongoing encampment demonstration at city hall, making it clear it will take assistance from all levels of government and even the public to address the situation.
