Hamilton male arrested following a car chase

On Monday April 18th, 2016 a Niagara Regional Police, Casino Patrol Unit officer was on patrol in the area of Ferry Street and Ellen Street in the city of Niagara Falls, when the officer saw an SUV speeding.

The officer followed the vehicle, which he believed was stolen.

Following a very brief pursuit, the driver lost control and struck a curb with the rear passenger tire causing the tire to burst.

All four people in the car fled on foot.

Officers brought in the K9 unit and found one male.

Nineteen year old Hamilton resident Tyler Smith is charged with possesion of property obtained by crime. He will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
