To make public spaces more accessible, the City of Hamilton and local community support groups hosted a painting party.

Today, the ‘Dynamic Symbol of Access’ event painted accessible parking spaces at Chedoke Twin Pad Arena. The group says the updated symbol is more inclusive.

Hamilton mayor Andrea Horwath said that they plan to expand the symbols of access to more than 50 locations currently available, covering 20 different facilities in Hamilton.

The symbol represents people with various disabilities, and also draws attention to Disability Pride Month in July.
