Hamilton’s Church of the Nativity has a very special display of poppies to honour our country’s veterans.

Thirty members of the church knitted and crocheted around 2,500 poppies starting early in the spring.

The goal was to display them in a way that would evoke a river-like feeling that would reflect the nature of working for peace.

“One of the things we wanted to do with this display was have it around our Peace Pole, which is as a reminder of our commitment to always live and work for peace,” said Reverend Canon Matthew Griffin.

“[That was] installed at the 100th anniversary of the conclusion of the First World War.”

It took around 80 hours of work to attach all the poppies.
