Halton police say a call came in last night for a shooting in the parking lot at the Burlington Centre mall on Guelph Line. The victim was transported to hospital where he has been pronounced deceased.
They say the victim is a man in his early 20s. No arrests have been made yet.
Police have not confirmed any details about the incident including who was injured or who the suspects are.
The lot just behind the 7-Eleven and the Kelsey’s Roadhouse although it’s not yet clear exactly where the shooting happened.
CHCH News spoke with a gentleman who was inside the Kelsey’s Roadhouse at the time of the incident.
He had come back for his car this morning because he had to leave it in the parking lot as police blocked off this portion of the property.
He says it was some time between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., when he came outside he witnessed two officers performing CPR on a person.
A 7-Eleven employee has confirmed the shooting did not happen there.
He says police came into the store requesting surveillance footage shortly after he came into work last night around 11 p.m.
There was also heavy police presence here shortly following the incident. At the centre of the investigation was a white car which was towed out here some time after 2 a.m.
Halton police say the investigation is ongoing.
According to the Halton Regional Police Services website, this is the second shooting to happen this year. The first one took place in Georgetown just last week.
This is a developing story. More to come.
