Halton police charge 19-year-old after December hit-and-run in Georgetown

Halton police say they’ve charged a 19-year-old Georgetown man following a hit-and-run that happened in December 2024.
On Dec. 17, 2024, a 76-year-old man was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross Mountainview Road South at the intersection with Campbell Gate in Georgetown.
He was seriously injured and transferred to a trauma center after being transported to Georgetown Hospital by emergency crews.
The vehicle that struck the man drove off and did not return, prompting police to investigate the incident as a hit-and-run.
Officers now say they’ve located and arrested the person responsible — a 19-year-old man from Georgetown, who was 18 at the time of the crash.
Police have not released his name, but have confirmed he is being charged with the following:
- Failure to stop after accident resulting in bodily harm
- Driving while driver’s licence suspended
- Careless driving causing bodily harm
He has been released from custody and is expected to appear in court in Milton.
