Halton police arrest 27-year-old man following high-end vehicle fraud investigation

Halton police say they’ve arrested and charged 27-year-old Ambady Sajeev from Oshawa following an investigation into high-end vehicle fraud in Oakville.

Investigators say that on Dec. 11, a man expressed interest in buying a Land Rover SUV worth over $200,000 from Budd’s Imported Cars.

An agreement was made for the purchase of the vehicle, delivery date pending. It was later determined that he provided false identification.

Upon discovering the fraudulent identification, Halton police were called and began an investigation.

Police say they identified the suspect as 27-year-old Sajeev. He was arrested on Dec. 16.

Officers say he was found in possession of multiple pieces of fraudulent identification, which included Canadian SIN cards, drivers licences and birth certificates.

Sajeev faces the following charges:

  • Fraud Over $5000
  • Identity Fraud – Personation with Intent
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
